In Shanghai With Parents

When I live in Canada by myself I am good at cooking;
When I live in Canada by myself I know I will do my own dishes;
When I live in Canada by myself I wash my own cloth;
When I live in Canada by myself I wake up early in the morning;
When I live in Canada by myself I contact my friends for all holidays and festivals;
When I live in Canada by myself I talk to people in a appropriate way;
When I live in Canada by myself I am an independent person.
Life is totally different in Shanghai because in that city I have my parents that I can rely on.
With my mum I become childish,
I loose the ability to make decision;
I loose the ability to communicate with others;
I loose my voice when I need to talk to others;
I loose my patient when I discuss with people;
I loose my ability of doing dishes;
I loose my ability of cooking;
I loose my ability of washing cloth;
I loose my good habit of  waking up early;
I have someone to let me depend on when I go home. I am the princess at home.

My Three Days & Two Nights in Shanghai

I went back Shanghai for Christmas. It was a great trip for me. I spent most of my vacation with my parents; however, I still got time to hang out with my friends back home.
I can't believe I had met 37 people in three days. I didn't manage it but just did it. I told all of my friends that I would go back to Shanghai for Christmas. And I told them that I had only three weeks to stay in the city.
I posted a message before I had left Canada: If any of you want to meet me in Shanghai, feel free to text me at 139*********3. You guys don't need to figure out a big amount of time for me. I can meet you out of your office with a nice coffee for you.
Here is what happened at the day I arrived China. I turned my phone on. It kept vibrating for at least 10 minutes.  I was super shocked because I thought my phone was broken. However, that was my friends. Most of my friends texted me before I arriving China.
I started greeting them at the first night I was in Beijing. We started planing a schedule for me to meet everyone. I was extramly longing to see everyone since I haven't met them for two and half years.
Finally, on 21st December I arrived in Shanghai. And this is the first time I slept on my own bed. How warm it is!Also in that night my friends and me got the first schedule of meeting each other.

It was just a plan. A plan never catches up the changes. I left Shanghai the other morning because of the engine issue of my father's ship in Lianyungang, which is 7 hours' drive. When I came back Shanghai was already Christmas eve. I went for dinner with my best friend in high school that night. We had a long conversation during the dinner. After that I met 6 of my psychology club members in the other building for a movie called "If You Are the One II". The movie finished at 9:15 p.m.  During the movie we can't talk to each other so we went to KTV after that. And the group became bigger since most of the couples had finished their romantic dinners. It was dramatic that my  elementary school classmate becomes my high school deskmate's boyfriend. The distance of my elementary school to my high school is just like Winnipeg to Branden. The end of the Christmas eve I have met 14 of my old friend.  When we were leaving the KTV, a coincidence just happened again; I met my ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend there.

Meeting my ex-boyfriend there became the most existing thing for me during that day. We all had never thought we would met each other in the world some day. I gave my best wishes to them. And we stopped the cold war between us, which was one of the most meaningful things in my life.

Then in Christmas Day I had met a group of my high school friends in a boat for lunch. That time I met 8 of my close friends, and that was a wonderful dinner.

Culture Class Chinese New Year 101

Chinese New Year is Febuary 3rd. People may ask how we figure out the date.

Here it is. We have our own calendar named lunar calendar as well as Chinese triditional calendar.

When is Chinese new year in lunar calendar? Chinese New Year is Lunar January 1st.

Who celebrate Chinese New Year? Of course all Chinese people will celebrate their new year; however, we should call it Asian New Year instead of Chinese New Year. Here is the reason people from Korea, Tibet, Bhutan, Mongolia, Vietna, and Japan they all share the same triditional new years day with Chinese.

Chinese New Year is the biggest festival of the year in China. We give this festival a name as Spring Festival, which clearly shows that after the festival Spring will be coming soon.

Traditionally, Spring festival lasts 16 days. It begins with the New Year Eve, which we call it Chu Xi. At that day all family members will get together to eat a big new year meal. You can never imaging how much effort Chinese people put on this festival. Every year before and after new year you will see three most crowd places: airport, railway station, and greyhund station. We transfered about 5 billion people dring Spring Festival. That's what happens every festival season. Go home dring the festival is the biggest goal for a Chinese in that day.

What will people do except having a big meal with family in China?
At that time people will wat a triditional TV Show named Spring Festival gala evening. It is provide by CCTV ( China Central Televation), which is a free channel and everyone can recieve the channel in China.
When it hits 12:00 a.m. people will go outside of their rooms to celebrate the early new year with fireworks.
Then the next coming morning everyone in the family should wake up early to give new year greedings to each other. Children will recieve lucky pocket from parents and other elders. The lucky pocket is an red envolop. It prays for health and safe in the new year. An early breakfast means hard work for the coming new year.
From the second day of new year people start visting friends and other relatives.
The new year festival ends at the 15th day of the new year. In that day the family will have a family dinner and those young people need to go back to work after that. So it is also a day for people to say good-bye to each other.

    Aternoon Tea in Pudong Shanghai

         This is my last week in Shanghai. However, I feel that I am not ready to leave yet. This city gives me too many things to remember, and to many places and friends to visit.
         If you haven't been to Shanghai before, you will never have the chance to get a real image of that city. It combines old and morden, western and easten culture, and classic and luxuary.
        Comfortablely, I am sitting beside the Huangpu river of Pudong side facing the Bound, which is the classic Shanghai with my friends and our super nice afternoon tea.
        By seeing the old Shanghai makes me thinking about lots of things happened in my childhood. My friends and me are keeping talking about our childhood now, while I am wrting this blog. The reason I want to write it now is I feel it is a good time to tell my friends in Canada how much exited I am right now.
         Sitting beside river you will feel the wind blows to your face, how warm it is. Compared to Canada, we have been already in Spring right now. The tempreture here is pluse 9 degree C in Shanghai to day, while Winnipeg is -32.
          Look accross the other side of the river, your mind will clearly opened to the early 30's. According to the history, that was a war century; however, in that time Shanghai was called "little Paris" of Asia. Those gentlemen and ladies were all dressed up to attend all kinds of the parties in downtown Shanghai. It seemed no war at all. Music, lights, alcohol, and cigars were the most popular things in those paries.
           The architectrues of that century are still well protected and they are now the histry of Shanghai. They still make this city looks mysterious because of the style of Roman European.
          Time passes fast. When you sit here, and have a look around, you will see a totally different world. The Pudong side of Shanghai, is a super mordern place of the world. It is hard for people to imagine that this area is only 20 years old. In 20 years we build the Pudong like my profile picture. How amazing that is! I have no idea about how you guys feel about that centre place. In my eye, it is even better than New York City, Chicago, even Las Vegas. Of course, Hong Kong becomes out of date now.
          Time passes fast, I have to stop writing this article because we need to go to the next stop of our trip in Shanghai.
           This place named Qing Tea Bar. Just beside Starbucks of Lujiazui. You have to make reservation to come to this place because the view here worthes everyone to have a look.
            Thanks for visiting. Here is my Shanghai contact number.

            Call me when you need to visit Shanghai or places near Shanghai. I will be back to Shanghai October 2011.
